Classic Sloppy Joes

Comfort food at its very best.

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 1/2 lb ground beef sirloin
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons steak seasoning blend
1 onion, peeled and chopped
1 red bell pepper, rinsed, dried, trimmed and chopped
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cups tomato sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
4 hamburger buns

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet over medium high heat, begin to brown ground beef in oil. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and steak seasoning and add to pan, stirring to incorporate.
  2. When the meat is fully cooked, add onion and red pepper to the skillet. Reduce heat to medium.
  3. Cook onion, pepper, red wine vinegar and Worcestershire sauce with the meat for 5 minutes; reduce heat to simmer. Cook mixture for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Top bottoms of buns with Sloppy Joe mixture, cover with bun tops and serve.
