Thai Basil Beef

One skillet meal with big flavors.

Ingredients:

For the Sauce:
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons fish sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 teaspoon chili sauce
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
For the Stir Fry:
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 lb ground beef
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1/2 sweet onion, thinly sliced
2 jalapeno peppers, sliced
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup Thai basil leaves
Cooked rice, for serving

Directions:

  1. Whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, lime juice, chili sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, coriander, ginger, and white pepper in a mixing bowl. Set aside.
  2. Pour the vegetable oil into a wok or large skillet. Bring to medium-high heat.
  3. Once the oil is hot, add the ground beef. Cook until beef is just beginning to brown.
  4. Add the bell pepper, onion, jalapenos, and garlic. Cook and stir for 2 minutes.
  5. Pour the sauce over the stir fry and stir to incorporate. Cook and stir for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the basil and cook until the ground beef is thoroughly browned.
  7. Transfer stir fry to serving plates and serve with a side of rice. Enjoy!
