Grilled Creole-Style Burgers

A taste of Louisiana's finest.

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef
1 egg
3 green onions, chopped
3 tablespoons panko breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
2 tablespoons sweet BBQ sauce
1 tablespoon Creole seasoning, plus 1 teaspoon
1/2 cup spicy BBQ sauce
4 hamburger buns
4 slices Gouda cheese
French fried onions, for garnish
Fresh coleslaw, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, green onions, panko breadcrumbs, spicy brown mustard, BBQ sauce and Creole seasoning. Mix together well and shape into 4 patties.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the spicy BBQ sauce 1 teaspoon Creole seasoning. Mix together well and set aside.
  4. Place burgers on the grill. Brush burgers with spicy BBQ sauce mix and cook for about 5 minutes. Flip burgers and brush again with the spicy BBQ sauce mix. Cook for about 5 minutes.
  5. Place burgers on the hamburger buns and top with Gouda cheese, French fried onions and coleslaw.
